Feeling in New York while staying in Milan? Now you can!
Rivington restaurant (opening November 16) is a love letter to New York City with Milan flair, that promises a culinary and sensory journey inspired by the classic restaurants of Manhattan. Rivington is the new creation of Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale, the hotel that winks at fashion and design, already known for its panoramic and very popular rooftop, ORGANICS SkyGarden.
Candlelit and jazzy, the restaurant’s décor is centered around photos of larger-than-life Italian-Americans who built New York; large windows frame the lit-up skyscrapers of Porta Nuova just a stone’s throw from the hotel—the atmosphere is sexy with a retro allure.
Headed by chef Guglielmo Giudice, the restaurant’s culinary philosophy is based on New York traditions of bold flavours and presentations with an extensive menu that celebrates modern interpretations of classic dishes.
Guests may start with an antipasti from our raw bar, featured composed dishes of crudo and legendary offerings such as the Oysters ‘Rockefeller’, where the shellfish are broiled with spinach and creamy pecorino cheese. Other starters include a riff on the famous “Waldorf” Salad and a steak tartare prepared tableside. Secondi are inspired by the New York chophouses of old, serving up “Surf & Turf” (filet mignon paired with lobster), a hearty NY Striploing, and a classic Dover Sole “a la meuniere”.
(The “Vanderbilt” Burger, which is a tribute to the many cheeseburgers our chef has enjoyed while visiting the Big Apple, is not to be missed.) Desserts showcase interpretations of mid-century classics, such as a slab of iconic and decadent New York-style cheesecake.
At Rivington, great attention is given to the art of the American craft cocktail, which in New York tradition is the focal point of the start of any great meal. We believe that a perfectly-made Martini is a thing of beauty and is a promise of a good evening to follow!
The restaurant’s philosophy was developed with our good friend, Jeffrey Tascarella, the well-known New York-based hospitality entrepreneur whose successful openings include the award-winning NoMad restaurant and hotel, and who managed award-winning modern Italian restaurant, Scarpetta–both iconic restaurants in New York.
Jeffrey Tascarella, along with partner Chris Lowder—one of the world’s most sought-after and award-winning talents in luxury bar consulting worked side by side with Chef Giudice, first in Milan and then in Manhattan, to bring all the authenticity of New York cuisine to the Rivington.
The restaurant room is managed by Luca Soldovilla who, under the supervision of F&B Manager Matteo Rube, will coordinate the entire team with old school service where the Hudson Steak Tartare and Dover Sole are finished at the table and cocktails are poured into glasses directly from the shaker and in front of the guests’ eyes.
Andrea Pallavicini, General Manager of Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale, says, “We wanted to bring something new to Milan. A restaurant in true New York style with a refined cuisine characterized by a very high quality of products.
The name “Rivington” comes from Rivington Street, the Lower East Side street where many Italian immigrants first made their new home in “The City”. The neighbourhood later became famous as an artsy, music-focused scene, notably as the birthplace of American punk and new-wave music.
To bring a little bit of New York to Milan, we enlisted the expertise of Lowder-Tascarella Hospitality; we collaborated to understand what really makes for a unique dining experience in Manhattan and how to transfer it to Milan. Thus, Rivington was born.”
Rivington’s entrance is located at Via G.B. Pirelli 20. Customers will access via the dedicated elevator that will catapult them into the heart of Manhattan.
Rivington is open every evening, Monday through Sunday, from 7:30 p.m.
